Dear Sir/Madam,
I am very pleased to be able support the nomination of Roger Kerr for a NZ Royal Honour.
I worked closely with Roger in the NZ Treasury in the 1980’s and again during a brief period as Chair of the NZ Business Roundtable.
As a senior member of and then Secretary to the Treasury, as the CEO Of ANZ Bank in NZ and as a citizen, I have appreciated the central Roger has played in promoting policies that are in our national interest and in securing business support for those policies, when individual firms might have preferred special privileges. I can think of no single New Zealander who has done more in this regard.
Roger made a contribution to the development of good public policy in New Zealand and the benefits that these policies generate for our economy and society.
His personal integrity, his leadership in the world of economic ideas and his courage and persistence in taking very public stands in the interests of our collective welfare should be recognised by the community he has served so faithfully for so long.
Yours sincerely,
Murray Horn PhD (Harvard)
